District 4 Commissioner Natalie Hall Partners with The Basketball Tournament (TBT) for ‘Day of Giving’ | Print |

As a part of Fulton County’s Strategic Plan priority “All People are Healthy”, Fulton County Commissioner Natalie Hall, District 4, will partner with the Fifth Annual The Basketball Tournament (TBT) for an upcoming ‘Day of Giving’ on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the City of Atlanta’s Anderson Park Recreation Center,  120 Anderson Avenue, NW, Atlanta, GA 30314, where Commissioner Hall, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms, community residents, NBA veteran and resident, Kent Bazemore and other former NBA athletes, will participate in activities that will include a court dedication, computer donations, and a clean-up of the Anderson Park Recreation Center.

“We could not be more excited that The Basketball Tournament has chosen Anderson Park to beautify and restore on their ‘Day of Giving’,” states Commissioner Natalie Hall. “This partnership will not only bring new computers, an upgraded gymnasium, and new lights to Anderson Park, but it will also make the park that all of the community residents, especially the youth in District 4, will have a place to go, enjoy and be proud of.”

The ‘Day of Giving’ was designed as an innovative way to assist with the eradication of disparities in health and wellness, jobs, and community transformation in Atlanta. As part of the ‘Day of Giving’, the City of Atlanta’s Anderson Park Recreation Center will receive some much-needed renovation work. In addition to the computer donation, and the court dedication, the recreation center will receive an overhaul of its gymnasium including a new electronic scoreboard, six new baskets, new shot clock, and improved lighting.

In addition, Commissioner Hall has partnered with health providers to focus on an “upstream” intervention strategy by tackling the issues that most significantly impact the health of Atlanta residents and address them as early as possible. The Fulton County Mobile HIV Test Unit will be on hand providing free HIV testing. In addition, the Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer’s Market, which delivers fresh produce from local farmers and provide nutrition education to residents, will also be present at the park.

“Giving back to the Atlanta area is extremely important to me,” says Kent Bazemore, NBA veteran. “What better way to enjoy a favorite pastime while investing in young people to reach their full potential.”
